Finding parking near Stedelijk Museum Aarschot, Aarschot
Parking Stedelijk Museum Aarschot is mostly about getting the right on-street zone rules right around Gasthuissite Elisabethlaan 103. The city uses a mix of paid parking, blue-disc parking (limited time) and some free areas. Mobypark currently doesn’t show any bookable spots for this location, but it’s still worth checking for future availability when your visit dates are set.
Paid parking zone (ticket required)
In Aarschot’s paying zone, street parking is regulated every day from 9:00 to 18:00 (except Sundays/holidays and 11 July). You park using a ticket/ payment at the parking machine.
There’s also a small “free window” in the paid zone: you can park 15 minutes free at any time by taking the green free ticket from the machine. If you want to avoid repeated payments due to a longer visit, check Mobypark for any future private options that fit your exact timing.
Blue zone with parking disc (maximum 3 hours)
The blue zone applies every day from 9:00 to 18:00 (again, except Sundays/holidays and 11 July) and allows up to 3 hours with a blue parking disc. It covers parts of the city center and also a section of Parking Centrum in the Demervallei.
Important detail: in the blue zone on Parking Centrum (Demervallei), a resident parking permit card is not valid—you still need to place the disc. For disabled drivers with a valid parking card, free and unlimited parking applies in the reserved places and also in both the blue and paying zones. When you might need more time than the blue-disc limit, it can help to check Mobypark for future availability.
Free parking windows inside the paid zone (school-end times)
On certain weekdays, the paying zone offers free parking for 1 hour when the school day ends: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri: 15:00–16:00 and Wed: 11:30–12:30. If you’re planning around these times, you can reduce the risk of overstaying the paid rules—otherwise, check Mobypark for any private spaces that may become available later.
Where you can park for free near Parking Centrum (Demervallei)
For a more predictable option, much of Parking Centrum in the Demervallei is free and unlimited—with one exception. Only the section between the police office, the bus lane, and the extended ramp from the Ring is designated as a blue zone (marked with ground markings and blue concrete blocks). If that blue-zone section would be annoying for your schedule, it’s worth checking Mobypark for future availability.
NMBS station car parks (barrier access)
For station-area parking near Aarschot, there are two NMBS B-parkings (they’re closed with a barrier and NMBS sets the tariffs): one behind the station on Nieuwlandlaan, and one at the front-left with an entrance at Statieplein and Leuvensesteenweg.
NMBS makes both car parks free between 19:00 and 07:00. They’re also free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, except during certain large events (e.g., Rock Werchter, Werchter Boutique, Werchter Classic and some concerts) when NMBS may offer a parking forfait.
Sensor parking for quick stops (30 minutes)
Near the Grote Markt (3 sensor spots) and around the station area near Velo (13 sensor spots), you get up to 30 minutes free. You don’t need a ticket from the machine and you don’t need a blue disc—your time is recorded by a sensor.
Go over 30 minutes and you risk a €25 retribution. Also note: a municipal parking card or a disability card isn’t valid as proof on these sensor places. If you’ll be there longer than half an hour, check Mobypark for any future private options that match your stay.
