Finding parking near Engelermeer, Den Bosch
Parking Engelermeer is usually straightforward, but on busy summer days the official lots near the Strandbad can fill up. Below are the practical places to park around Engelermeer (Den Bosch) and what rules can affect your arrival.
Where to park at Engelermeer (official lots, often free)
For the swim area and surrounding facilities, look for the public/official parking lots used for access to Engelermeer:
- Meerheuvelweg 1, 5221 TP (Strandbad Engelermeer): this is the main address used for car access to the beach/strandbad area, with free parking and free entry to the area.
- Engeler Visserspad / Haverlij (parking behind the barrier): a commonly used parking point mentioned for visitors arriving by car toward Engelermeer.
- De Gemeint 1 (Naaktstrandje area): there is free parking and a small number of disabled parking spaces close to this access route.
If you’re using navigation, set your destination to the street/number above rather than “Engelermeer” generically—this helps you end up in the right access zone.
Choose parking based on your side of the water
Engelermeer has clearly marked areas, including a naturist section. Signs indicate which part of the site you’re entering, and access differs by side (for example, fenced/marked areas for specific rules).
- Naturist beach access: follow the marked access points from the parking used for the naaktstrand area (De Gemeint 1). Disabled access is via a designated gate route when supervision/conditions allow it.
- General Strandbad visitors: aim for the Strandbad car access (Meerheuvelweg 1) if you want the most direct approach to toilets and on-site amenities on busy days.
Accessibility, disabled parking, and the “last steps”
Disabled parking is limited at the naturist beach parking area (there are about 7 disabled spaces). The final access route to the beach is via a designated large gate that is only opened when there is supervision/controls in place. An accessible toilet is available near the pavilion area.
Because these spaces are limited, try to arrive earlier in the day—especially on weekends—so you’re not left circling for an available spot.
Rules that can affect your parking plans
- Dogs: dogs are not welcome on parts of the site (the west side is fenced/regulated). Also note that in the period from mid-May to mid-September, dogs are not allowed at Engelermeer.
- Bikes/scooters on the beach: you can’t ride a bike or scooter onto the beach area; if you cycle, use the bike parking facilities near the walking routes.
- Late arrival / after sunset: for safety and rules compliance, access after sunset is restricted without the required municipal permission. Plan your arrival earlier to avoid being turned back.
Busy-day strategy (weekends, great weather, events)
On weekends and nice days, expect higher demand. Arrive early so you can park within the official access areas instead of searching at the last minute. Also keep an eye out for event-day changes: during events, the site can be less reachable and parking tariffs may differ from normal conditions.
If you reach Engelermeer and the public lots are full, you can also check Mobypark for any future nearby availability before you drive back out—use your dates in the search bar to see what’s possible at that time.
